Microsoft just unveiled at Lync conference February 18, 2014 running Lync - Skype video call. In May 2013, Microsoft added the ability to voice technology for Lync business users to comunicate with Skype users for both Windows and Mac platforms.
Also then the company announced that video calls between two clients are developed and status of work was defined as advanced. Now Microsoft has decided to make public show of support functions Lync - Skype video chat. Show demo included the launch video call conversations between Microsoft Lync and Skype in a nearby store. It is expected that this feature will be added not later than at the end of 2014.
In a post on a official Skype blog, Microsoft claims that the addition of video chat between Lync and Skype will be very beneficial for both partners, that is for businesses and consumers. For example:
Enterprises will increase their use of video interviews, firstly during the initial screening process and then onwards through the selection process and follow-up. Skype, with its global reach and platform availability is ideal for this sort of Ad-hoc but also critical communications requirement
Blog also points to the fact that employees who use Lync on the way will be able to easily keep in touch with friends and family who use the Skype client.
The official blog of Microsoft added that it is planned to add more features for Lync , including better support for older teleconference systems.
